• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Feelings/soul do they exist and if so what are they?

...What... Emotions HAVE a scientific explanation. Whether you believe there's any more to them or not, the physiological cause of emotions is hormonal variations in reaction to external stimuli. I'm religious, too, but I don't assume that research of the universe is meaningless.

Feelings/soul do they exist and if so what are they?

How does the existence of the soul imply that I should take different actions than otherwise? Regardless of what pushes you to do something, it will still be done in the same way- does a coin pushed off of a table fall differently if pushed by a metal plate and a ceramic plate? And you claim to...

Feelings/soul do they exist and if so what are they?

So is saying it doesn't; an absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Either position is solely a personal belief, and is impossible to properly support.

Feelings/soul do they exist and if so what are they?

I could just as easily ask you why you believe it doesn't exist. The answer would be the lack of evidence for its existence. My reason for believing in its existence is a lack of evidence against it. Again, a debate about something that cannot reach a definite answer will never reach any point...

Feelings/soul do they exist and if so what are they?

Indeed. I believe in souls, you don't. The concept of the soul is impossible to "prove" or "disprove" because the soul by definition is immeasurable and untouchable. You cannot "prove" the existence of what you can't in any way interact with, but, by the same token, you can't "disprove" by...

Feelings/soul do they exist and if so what are they?

I think that it's a poor question; this is solely a matter of faith, and thus impossible to come to a proper answer. A debate about this will go nowhere, as the nature of the soul is such that it is impossible to prove or disprove its existence.
